VB_M201.EXE Download the archive, "VB_M201.zip" Extract all of the contents of that archive into the same folder. Read all of the ".txt" and ".rtf" files for other information before actually running the "VB_M201.exe" application. Installation: We recommend the following file placement. Please keep the DLL in the application directory and be sure to put the .ini files in the Windows directory. Application directory: VB_M201.EXE nt_m201.dll Windows directory: CHoffset.ini M201_grf.ini ========== Special Note ========== If using this application with the EMF-16 hardware, please look at the "EMF-16.HTM" file for complete information for application usage and ignore the documentation shown below. Startup: Run the application either by double-clicking it's icon or by selecting it from the start-menu. It may be best to run it for the first time with the default channel selections as well as the other defaults that we've preset - you may need to change the COM-Port though. This will help you get a feel for how the display works. Many of the runtime parameters are loaded from, and can be saved back to the ini files that were placed in your Windows directory during the setup operation. Anything you change will be recorded in the application and then when you exit the application you'll be prompted to save the current configuration. The prompt-message-box will let you know what has been changed. You can also change the options by direct editing of the M201_grf.ini file, but we recommend allowing the application to make the changes for you. There is an option to save and apply the current voltage values to the future voltage values. When the button is pressed to do that, the current voltages are saved to the "CHoffset.ini" file so you can easily reuse the same values next time you run the application. We don't recommend directly editing the CHoffset.ini file. If there are any non-zero values in that file, the next time you run the application it will automatically start scanning in the "USING offset voltages" mode. Likewise if there are only zeros in that file, the scanning will start in the "Not using offset voltages" mode. SignOn/Scanning: When the application is first started, you must click the "signon" button before any scanning can be performed. The SignOn allows the application to intitialize the serial port and also pass certain parameters to the DLL. Once that is done, all other functions of the application will be enabled as well as the ability to to start scanning. The signon button only needs to be pressed once each time the application is loaded. The ability to start and stop the scan allows certain parameters to be changed and applied to a new scanning operation, and also allows the resources required to run the scan to be freed for the rest of the system use when not scanning.
